Yokohama and Kobe, Japan

Back to the World Map!

I used this word quite often while spending time in Japan. It simply means, "Hello", and was very fun to say to local Japanese. They would smile, and say it right back, almost impressed with the fact that I knew their language. If they tried to start a conversation with me, I simply smiled back and said; "Domo arigato!" which means "Thank you..." and that was the end of that!

The Japanese were fascinating people, full of smiles and perky attitudes. We spent time in Tokyo, Yokohama, Nara, and Kobe. We ended the trip with a student exchange program at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. The University exchange was probably the most memorable, because of the personal relationships I made with the students.
